Nichijou Short Review

Nichijou is a slice of life comedy anime, about the students and staff of a school. It originally started as a manga in 2006 but was made into an original net animation in March 2011 and then into an anime series in April 2011.

The main characters of Nichijou are 3 girls in the high school, Yukko, Mai and Mio and then a professor, her robot and a talking cat, the rest of the cast consists of school students and staff of varying importance, though every featured character gets their moment.
While slice of life themes are part of Nichijou the major focus is definitely on the comedy.

What I love the most about Nichijou is the art and the animation which is absolutely phenomenal, the characters designs are simple but this allows the animators to pull off some amazing animation and effects and it also allows the style to change flexibly without looking too strange. The backgrounds are also very nice but since anime always has high quality backgrounds they don't stand out much.

Both of the opening themes are awesome because they convey the happy and optimistic mood of the show.
I don't remember much of the other music though I do remember the Helvetica Standard tracks because they are strange but it does go along with the skits. The ending themes are also nice and at the halfway point they change every episode which is quite unique.

Overall I'd give it an 8/10, it achieved what it set out to do but I would've liked it to have a more solid central plot and a better ending because a lot of the story felt incomplete and left too unknown.
