PAX Aus 2013 post 1/2

From Monday the 15th of July to Tuesday the 23rd, I was in Melbourne for PAX Australia with Sue and Kamil to show our game The Legacy of Barubash
This post is about about the daily events, the second post will be about the actual experience, people I met and the city itself.

On Monday we got on a flight at like 6AM or something and landed in Melbourn at 11AM? After that we got settled into our hotel room which only had 2 keys which really sucked because there was 6 of us staying in the room, it really limited us in how often we could go our own separate way, after that I went to the local Harbourtown for a bit and got some lunch, for dinner we went to a Chinese place in the QV building.

Tuesday we went to get posters, preorder cards and a few other things from Officeworks, we also tried to get an prepaid internet SIM from a Woolworths store but it turned out to be too small to have them in stock.

At night we went to get beanbag fill from Big W but they only had 240 litres so we went to a nearby Target and bought all of the beans they had as well.
We then met up with Kale and had dinner with him, Brendan and his partner (I don't think I actually heard her name)

On Wednesday we did a bunch of setup, mainly involving filling up the beanbags and getting the TV and monitors out of the boxes, I was expecting to see more developers around but it was mainly just workers and security people.

Thursday we waited around in the rain for a taxi that took forever to actually arrive, and then set up a few more things in our booth and had dinner with Kale again after buying some more power boards, surprisingly a lot of the booths looked like they still needed to be set up quite a bit when we left.

Friday was the first day of PAX Aus so we woke up around 5am so we could beat the traffic and do a bit of additional setting up, I don't remember there being too much foot traffic that day but we had someone interview Kamil and people from Oprainfall played our game for a bit in the morning. I was surprised when I found out that they had actually written an article about our game http://operationrainfall.com/pax-aus-2013-legacy-of-barubash/

Saturday was better, we got a lot more traffic because more people would've had passes for Saturday. Went outside of the expo hall to get lunch with Kale from the big top, where all the console games and handheld lounge area was. Don't remember much else apart from being kind of useless at the booth because I'm not very good at talking to people I don't know.

Sue was interviewed by some Good Game person for a segment, I really hope it makes it in at some point because we didn't really get that much press coverage during the show. At the end of Saturday we decided to rearrange the booth to work a bit better, the main problem was that no one could hear the game, see the preorder signs or even know that we had an Ouya (it's rather hard to show when it's so small though).

Sunday was a lot better after the booth rearrangement. We got a bunch of preorder sales and a lot more activity, Kamil even ran out of his business cards.
After PAX had finished we packed up, had an incident with the stupid security people over dumping the beanbag fill after they told us to do so in the first place and then got out of there.

Monday was going to lunch for Kamil's Mum's Birthday after that we went wandering for a bit, I went into this weird counterfeit Asian store, all of the DVD cases had this overly saturated look to them. At night we had dinner with Kale again and said goodbye.

On Tuesday we packed everything up, had one last look around town, (I bought two comics for the flight back, Carnage Family Feud is awesome) headed to the airport and then flew home.

That's actually a lot more than I remember doing, I mainly remember just waiting around in between all the little events.
