Alright I didn't manage to get any art done so I think I'll just do all that on Sunday, it's a bit too hard to split my mind between reading subtitles and drawing something at the same time.
Anyway today I watched Haiyore! Nyaruko-san which is an anime about a guy who is saved by a cthulhian creature in the form of a silver haired girl. It is incredibly referential to the Cthulhu Mythos, other anime, manga and video games, it even has a blog dedicated to listing all of this http://nyaruref.blogspot.ca/
Visually it's not that unique or different, just a standard late 2000s anime style, characters with big bright shiny eyes and normal looking bodies. Only rarely does it do any scenes that are lit or coloured differently.
The art is of course done well but it still lacks a lot of animation and relies a lot on the standard mouth moving and panning shots.
Of course the when the actual animation happens a lot of it is referential like the capsule monster throw in the 1st episode which is an obvious reference to Pokemon.
